1. Who we are
“InspectApps”, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to the operators of inspectapps.com (the “Service”). The Service lets you enter a public Shopify storefront URL and view the apps, theme, payment gateways, and other tools that the storefront appears to use, based on publicly available information.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how your data is handled, contact us at legal@inspectapps.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect the minimum information needed to operate and improve the Service. Specifically:
- Scan inputs. The storefront URLs or domains you submit to the Service. These are processed to perform a scan and may be temporarily cached or logged for debugging, abuse prevention, and rate limiting.
- Public storefront data. When you request a scan, we fetch publicly available pages and metadata from the target storefront in order to detect installed apps, themes, and similar integrations.
- Usage and device data. Standard request data such as IP address, user agent, referrer, requested path, timestamps, and basic device or browser characteristics. We use this to operate the Service, monitor performance, and prevent abuse.
- Cookies and similar technologies. We may use a small number of cookies or local storage entries that are strictly necessary to deliver the Service (for example, security or session state). We do not use advertising cookies.
- Analytics. We use privacy-respecting analytics (such as Vercel Analytics) to understand aggregate usage. These analytics do not build advertising profiles about individual visitors.
- Communications. If you email us, we receive your email address, the contents of your message, and any information you choose to share with us.
We do not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for sensitive personal information to use the Service.
3. How we use information
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To perform the scan you requested and display the resulting information about a public storefront.
- To detect, investigate, and prevent abuse, fraud, security incidents, and violations of our Terms of Service.
- To monitor performance, debug issues, and understand aggregate usage patterns.
- To respond to your questions, requests, and feedback.
- To comply with applicable laws and enforce our agreements.
4. Legal bases for processing (EEA / UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a similar jurisdiction, we process your information on one or more of the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, performing scans you request, preventing abuse, and improving our product.
- Performance of a contract with you when you use the Service in accordance with our Terms of Service.
- Compliance with legal obligations that apply to us.
- Consent, where required (for example, for certain cookies or communications). You may withdraw consent at any time.
5. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in limited circumstances:
- Service providers. Hosting, infrastructure, analytics, error monitoring, and similar vendors that process data on our behalf under appropriate confidentiality and security obligations.
- Legal and safety. When we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of InspectApps, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
6. Data retention
We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Operational logs and cached scan data are typically retained for a limited period and then deleted or aggregated.
7. International data transfers
The Service is operated from, and may use service providers located in, jurisdictions that may not have the same data protection laws as your jurisdiction. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for cross-border transfers.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect the information we process. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict our use of certain information, to object to processing, or to request portability. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
To exercise these rights, email us at legal@inspectapps.com. We may need to verify your identity or request additional information before acting on a request.
10. Information about third-party storefronts
InspectApps inspects publicly available information from third-party storefronts that you specifically request to scan. We do not control those storefronts, the apps they use, or how those third parties handle data. References to specific apps, themes, or providers are for informational purposes only and do not imply endorsement, affiliation, or partnership.
If you operate a storefront and believe information shown about your site is inaccurate, contact us at legal@inspectapps.com.
11. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated by reasonable means. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
